Portugese ruled Goa for about 450 years starting from early 16th century up to 1961 and so their influence is shown in the many churches and the Goan cusine. Old Goa is about 15 km from the capital city of Panjim (aka Panaji) and is home to two churches: Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral.
